AG is a Certified B Corp!

Did i just say that out loud? This is definitely a ‘pinch me’ moment and an exciting day for everyone who works with us. B Corp certification is a purpose goal we’ve been working hard towards over the last 18 months, because we strongly believe that every business should be responsible for the impact they have on the world.

As a B Corp in the communications industry, we’re proud to now be counted among businesses that are leading a global movement for a more inclusive, equitable, and regenerative economy. This means the world to us (literally!) and it feels good to know that our commitment to be a better business every day, prioritising people and the planet alongside profit, is now recognised independently by B Lab.

The B Impact Assessment (BIA) is what every business needs to complete and submit to become a B Corp. Its free to use and the process is rigorous. It made us challenge how we operate our business and deliver our communications services to clients. Testing our thinking and our ways of working was a positive experience though. It brought our team and AG members (our supply chain) together, and got us talking more openly about what we want for the future at AG, and everyone around us.

As the BIA process was going to span over such a long period of time, I felt strongly about improving our impact as we progressed, and made the decision to join UK for Good and get the support from two trusted B Leaders, Donna Okell and Andy Hawkins. As an SME Founder, having their support meant I was able to navigate the BIA with more clarity and confidence. They challenged my thinking as we went, and shared their knowledge and experience. AG certified with an overall score of 100.6, and although this is about impact rather than points, I was so proud of this, especially our Workers score of 36. People have always been at the heart of my business model, so that one really means a lot to me.

Everyone at AG contributed to our BIA process, juggling extra work around client projects and other business priorities. I can’t thank my team enough for their support, this really was a group effort. We were also cheered on throughout by our brilliant AG Members who embraced our B Corp journey and were involved as our supply chain measurement.

I truly believe that B Corps are the future of business and feel incredibly proud to be a part of this global community, all dedicated to creating a better world. We recertify again in three years, and we’ll be working hard to make further improvements. Until then, we stay focused on making a difference together for people and the planet.
