Cheryl Davenport
Director – Communications

My background

My career in communications spans 25 years, during which time I’ve worked across the public and private sectors. I’ve developed my skills as a communicator while working both as an employee and as a consultant. I’ve learned what works and what doesn’t in the world of business communications. I’ve learned how to deliver the best possible outcomes no matter what the challenges, and I’ve also learned that I’ll never stop learning – and I never want to.

What I enjoy most about my work

I love words and the power of words. I love writing. I love working with people. I enjoy being handed a difficult communications challenge and being trusted to find the best solution – and I enjoy delivering that solution and seeing the difference it makes. Communicating successfully isn’t easy, but I love to take those difficult challenges and help to solve them.

Some of the companies I have worked with

United Utilities, AstraZeneca, Oldham Council, The Oldham College, Syngenta, Adobe, Volvo

My hope for the future

That’s a big question. There is so much to hope for, but I guess I will boil it down to how I can make a difference in my own small way. I hope for greater tolerance, understanding and respect between people from different backgrounds and with different views. I hope for the opportunities I’ve been lucky enough to have in my own life to be there for the next generation too, no matter where they are in the world. I will do everything I can to promote kindness and generosity between people and I’ll keep hoping that by doing small things every day, I’ll make a difference that adds up.

What I love about AG Comms

I have worked in some great teams during my career, and over the years I’ve made some of my best friends through work. AG Comms is an amazing mash-up of those two things, where I get to work on challenging, interesting projects for a wide variety of clients with a group of amazing people who have become some of the best, most supportive, cleverest and most hilarious friends I could wish for. What could be better?

How does working for AG Comms support you?

AG Comms offers THE most flexible, most interesting, and most supportive environment I’ve ever been lucky enough to work in. The ethos is all about doing good. That ranges from the clients we choose to work with and way the business gives back, to the actions it takes to support sustainability, equality and equity. It includes the way AG supports its employees and its members and the help it gives us whenever we need it. This is truly an amazing organisation to be a part of. It’s totally unique, and I can’t wait to see where the passion, care and commitment to what we do – and each other – that we all share will take us in the future.
