Emma March
Consultant – Communications & Creative Design

My background

My first job, after completing a graphic design degree, was as an “Account Exec” at Saatchi & Saatchi Plc, overseeing the design, production and roll-out of marketing campaigns for high-end property developments across London – a real baptism of fire! This work, followed by 20+ years working in agencies in various creative, project and account management roles allowed me to build a wide range of skills from creative concepting, brand development, print design and production, digital asset creation, project, budget and resource management, through to client liaison and account development.

Along the way I set up a greeting card company as a side hustle, which I successfully ran for 10 years and was proud to call the likes of Paperchase, John Lewis, Liberty and WHSmith customers. This experience allowed me to hone my brand development, illustration and business development skills.

In 2016, I moved to Margate and started working with an agency specialising in creative production for branded events. I really enjoyed this exciting work and relished the new skills it taught me. Covid brought this work to a sudden end and then after nearly a year of wondering “what next?” AG Comms found me!

I have been working for AG since the beginning of 2022 as a Creative Consultant, creating logos, illustrations, infographics, presentations, printed brochures, animations and SharePoint site content – as well as working in a project management capacity on a number of projects.

What I enjoy most about my work

I love problem solving – finding ways to visually present information or concepts in an easily digestible way, or finding a workable solution to a logistical problem. I also really love working as part of a team – be that in AG Comms, or with our clients – collaboratively getting things done, in the best way possible.

Some of the companies I have worked with

YouTube, WeWork, V&A, Selfridges, Royal Ascot, The GSMA, The Sustainable Restaurant Association, Cadbury, Schroders Investment Bank, CIPR, Novartis, Adobe, AstraZeneca, Syngenta

My hope for the future

Since working with AG Comms I have seen firsthand that businesses can operate competitively, within a purpose driven model. AG’s commitment to being “powered by purpose”, their honesty, integrity and refusal to compromise has made me realise that this is how all businesses should run. My hope for the future is to be part of a process to help as many businesses as possible to follow this lead – and along the way, learn how I can work more sustainably and minimise my negative impact on the world.

What I love about AG Comms

Where do I begin? From a practical perspective, I love that I can work from home (or from the other side of the world, which I have done a few times!), at times that suit me – and that this flexibility is actively encouraged. I love that even though I work almost entirely remotely – and mostly by myself, I feel that I am part of a great team and that their support is always available if I need it. The team are such an incredibly talented group of people, who treat each other with care and respect. Getting to meet up with them in person, once a year or so, is a real treat and feels like catching up with old friends.

For the first time since I started working in 1997, I feel proud of who I work for, who I work with and I hope that I am able to continue working with AG Comms until I stop working!

How does working for AG Comms support you?

Having taken the leap to move out of London, working hard to secure work and then to lose it all during Covid a few years later, I was genuinely worried about finding any sort of meaningful work again. The thought of commuting back to London, to work in stressful agency environments – as well as having to put myself in the hands of the recruiters again – was completely daunting.

Working for AG Comms means that I haven’t had to do any of that. I now have the work-life balance I always craved but could never seem to create. I get paid well to do meaningful work I enjoy, for great clients who are doing great things, whilst working alongside talented people who I respect. I feel valued and I get true job satisfaction.

I feel personally and professionally supported – and very lucky!
