Laura McDowell
Impact Manager
My background
My career path has been rooted in corporate communications and CSR, enhanced by a recent master's in Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability. I gained early experience in CSR with Warner Bros UK, where I developed a foundational understanding of how large organisations implement socially responsible practices. Afterward, I spent six months in Tech PR, broadening my skills in strategic communication, followed by a role in partnerships at ONCAMPUS London. While pursuing my Master’s, I worked at UK for Good as a Membership Manager, helping organisations achieve B Corp certification and deepen their commitment to positive impact. Currently, I am the Impact Manager at AG Communications, where I help drive ESG initiatives and foster sustainable practices across the business.
What I enjoy most about my work
I love seeing the tangible results of strategies and actions that have been designed to create positive change for the environment, the community, or within an organisation itself. Building relationships with clients and stakeholders who are equally committed to sustainability and seeking innovative solutions to ESG challenges is incredibly fulfilling. There is something very rewarding about knowing that each project contributes to AG’s broader mission of making businesses a force for good.
Some of the companies I have worked with
I’ve had the opportunity to work with a diverse range of companies across sectors, beginning with Warner Bros UK, where I first gained insights into CSR on a large scale. My subsequent work in PR and Corporate Communications with various tech firms deepened my understanding of the unique sustainability challenges businesses face. I then transitioned to strategic partnerships, collaborating closely with international universities and colleges at Cambridge Education Group. Most recently, at UK for Good, I focused on sustainability-driven membership initiatives and partnerships to foster collective impact within the B Corps community.
My hope for the future
I hope to continue contributing to a world where businesses are accountable for their social and environmental impacts. I would love it to be the ‘norm’ that companies prioritise sustainable impact alongside profit and strive for meaningful change aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Ultimately, it would be fantastic to see more companies committed to driving innovative, measurable change that advances equality, climate action, and community development.
What I love about AG Comms
AG Comms is a genuinely purpose-driven organisation, and what I love most is the core commitment to aligning business goals with sustainable impact. AG’s transparent focus on gender equality, climate action, and ongoing professional development creates an environment that not only fosters growth but also encourages a sense of purpose in everything we do. It feels very inspiring to be part of a team that so authentically values its people and actively invests in their success.
How does working for AG Comms support you?
Working for AG Comms has given me the opportunity to grow professionally while staying aligned with my values. The emphasis on continuous learning, such as support for professional development and the chance to volunteer for causes I care about, is invaluable. I feel supported in my role as an Impact Manager, with access to resources and a team that’s equally dedicated to making a difference, both within our company and beyond. The balance of flexibility and collaboration at AG makes it an ideal fit for my career ambitions and my personal priority of advancing sustainability and corporate responsibility.
