Lucy Atkinson
Executive Account Director – Communications & Impact

My background

Having started work as a public relations consultant, I moved into the field of internal communications, specialising in change projects, engagement and culture development. I have now amassed over 30 years’ experience working with voluntary organisations, start-ups and with medium sized (SMEs) and multinational companies, advising on and leading projects at every level and working with frontline employees through to leaders. I have had two voluntary posts on the board of charities and over the past 18 months I have been providing impact consulting to SMEs. This area has been a happy collision of my consulting and project management skills, with my personal passion to do what I can to protect our world and its future.

What I enjoy most about my work

I am energised by having a problem to solve and a great team to work with.  I love having to define a strategy based on the practicalities of the organisation I am partnering with and the desire to achieve defined outcomes. Once that strategy has been agreed, I love helping clients engage their teams in understanding and delivering it.

Some of the companies I have worked with

Johnson & Johnson, GSK, Syngenta, ISS, Manchester Citizens Advice Bureau, Better You, AstraZeneca, She Changes Climate

My hope for the future

I believe we have this moment to make a difference, and that individual impact can be magnified if we can engage organisations to be and do good. We all shop, work, or use services from multiple organisations day in day out and if those organisations can incorporate good for people and the planet into the core of how they operate it will generate exponential change. My hope is we can ignite this spark in enough organisations and individuals to positively impact our future.

What I love about AG Comms

Having worked with AG Comms for over 8 years, I happily advocate for it as an organisation that provides me with a supportive team environment and a values driven approach that aligns very closely to my own beliefs. I love interacting across the team, collaborating on client projects and drawing on our deep expertise to deliver. The flexible approach is unmatched by any other organisation I have encountered and enables me to do meaningful work and live my life, a balance that is hard to achieve elsewhere.

How does working for AG Comms support you?

AG Comms gives me one of the best and most experienced teams to work within. I have flexibility in how I choose to deliver projects, and where from, and can agree with my client when that is done. I also benefit from the provision of the platforms needed for work, and the background infrastructure to agree client terms. Alongside this, I feel hugely supported by the team, we share best practice, and build on each other’s ideas, and I know when the heat is on, in both a professional and personal capacity, we can call on each other.
